Our STory

The vision of Vocational Vistas finally came together in August 2017. The seed was planted 20 years ago when I sustained an industrial injury. Since my ability to perform the more physical tasks associated with my previous line of work was limited, I took some additional specialty classes to change my degree to Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.

During the transitional period I worked at Professional Network Incorporated with at-risk youth and foster children who were in transition to permanent placement. During this period, I initiated a program to provide employment opportunities for individuals with physical or learning limitations. This was performed for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) under the umbrella of the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). However, since my injury was work related, I sought to join the private sector vocational rehabilitation professionals working with the Department of Labor & Industries.

After completing an Internship at SCA Pacific Case Management, I joined the SCA Seattle office manager when he founded Career Opportunities Group. After their graduation from college, my sons, Robbie and Jacey, joined the firm. It was a great experience working with them until my retirement in 2015.

Two years later, my sons and their friend, Joe Lambert, all experienced and credentialed Counselors, joined with me to form Vocational Vistas to continue assisting injured workers with the process of moving forward with recovery, assessing options, and navigating the L&I system to achieve an appropriate resolution.
